The Problem

Curt Schmidgall contacted us and inquired about a new brand, logo, and website for his company, BBC Emporium. BBC Emporium, a company that specializes in buying and selling vintage sports card collections, wanted to modernize their brand and website while maintaining a vintage feel and look. Curt goal for the BBC Emporium website was to increase conversions and market credibility for the business. There were also issues with the old Wordpress site including site vulnerabilities and pre-existing adware.

Our Strategy

We first started the project by updating the logo and brand. We provided Curt with a total of 6 preliminary logo designs. Curt narrowed it down to one design, which we further modified until we had a finalized logo design. The new logo had a vintage feel with a better-defined brand identity and theme.

Subsequently, our goal with the website was to maintain a vintage look and feel (following up with the logo and font selections). We concluded that the site would be designed responsively (works well on all screen sizes), included a body and header font that was legible, specifically for BBC Emporium's primary demographic, contained fast load times for SEO and greater user experience, and a had a strong internal link structure that made conversions intuitive and simple for BBC Emporium's website visiors.

 

Redesigned Brand Identity and Logo

BBC Emporium's old logo (top) required a redesign to reflect the new brand identity and feel. The strategy for the redesign was to keep a similar feel with a fresh perspective.

The new logo (bottom) contains a background badge with pinstripes to reflect the 1940s and 1950s baseball uniforms. The badge is overlayed with a simple, geometric banner, which includes the brand name. Beneath the banner but above the underlying badge is two crossing baseball bats and a baseball to reflect the brand's primary market – selling and buying vintage baseball card collections. At the very bottom of the logo, resting on the badge, BBC Emporium's year founded is displayed in a script font.

Complimentary Flyer/Poster Design

At Pixel Brew, we love to go above and beyond for our clients. For BBC Emporium, we created a piece of print design, a flyer or poster, that could be used for marketing at local events in Longmont and Boulder County.

BBC Emporium was happy to receive this piece of print design media that ties together their new brand identity. The flyer features a baseball base at the top with BBC Emporium's contact information (phone and website) and a phrase about what the business offers. BBC Emporium's new logo design sits in the center of the poster. Below their logo, two vintage banners are presents, "Honest Grading" and "Free Appraisals", which contain information about their central offer. In between the banners is information about the year BBC Emporium was founded, and at the bottom, the business's name is prominently displayed.

Conclusion and Results

It was a wonderful experience working with Curt, creating a new logo and website for BBC Emporium. We installed Google Analytics on the new site and are looking forward to following up in a few months to view the website's conversions, traffic, and overall performance. We are also planning on working on a long-term SEO plan with BBC Emporium to increase their organic search presence and drive more traffic to the site.
